ManuSpectrum is not a data repository. It describes analyses, links them together and showcases them, in line with the FAIR principles.
It gives none of the guarantees of a repository (long-term preservation, persistent identifiers, citable deposits). Your raw data belongs in a recognised repository such as Recherche Data Gouv or Nakala, and ManuSpectrum links to it.
A restriction on a resource is temporary: 12 months at most, then it is lifted automatically, unless the team records an exception.
An unfinished workflow is cleaned after 90 days without activity, once we have written to you twice (21 and 7 days before the cleanup).
Words we use
- Platform
- The ManuSpectrum website and everything you can read or enter on it.
- Contributor
- A person with an account, who describes analyses, manuscripts or materials on the platform.
- Resource
- Anything ManuSpectrum describes (a document, a component, an analysis, a sample, a project, a person...), with its information and its files.
- Restriction
- A resource that only some people can see until an end date, also called an embargo.
- Workflow
- A guided, multi-step form of ManuSpectrum (for example « Import from Biblissima » or « Create a project ») that creates or edits resources step by step. Some French screens of Arches, the software ManuSpectrum is built on, call it a « flux de travail ».
- Team
- The people who run the platform at the Centre de recherche sur la conservation.
The rules
1. Your account is yours
An account is personal. Do not share your password or your second factor, and do not let someone else work under your name. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.
2. What you describe must be accurate
You answer for the descriptions you enter. Check them, correct them when you find a mistake, and say so when something is uncertain.
3. Images and files: you need the rights
Upload or link an image or a file only if you hold the rights to it or have permission from the holder. Give the licence and the credit on the resource.
4. Licences of published data
Each resource states the licence that applies to its data and files, and who produced them. Whoever reuses them follows that licence and cites the depositing laboratory.
5. Raw data goes to a repository
Do not rely on ManuSpectrum to keep your raw data. Deposit it in a recognised repository and link it from your resource. We may remove files that the platform cannot hold.
6. A restriction does not last forever
You can restrict a resource for 12 months at most. We write to you 30 and 7 days before the end date and again the day the resource becomes public. The restriction is lifted automatically the day after the end date. A restriction with no end date is not lifted by itself, and the team keeps a list of them.
7. Unfinished workflows are cleaned
A workflow left untouched for 90 days is cleaned. We write to you 21 and 7 days before. We remove only what the workflow itself created, and only while it is still a draft, unchanged elsewhere and not linked to anything. Finished workflows are never touched.
8. Misuse
The team may suspend an account that misuses the platform (false descriptions on purpose, files you have no right to, attempts to get around access limits). We tell you why.
9. These terms can change
When the terms change, the version above changes too, and you accept the new version the next time you sign in.
